What We Do
Thoughtful counsel. Practical solutions. Personal attention.
Schoendorf Law provides strategic legal counsel and representation to businesses, entrepreneurs, individuals, and families across a broad range of legal matters.
Some clients come to us to build, negotiate, acquire, structure, or plan. Others come to us because a dispute has already developed and something important is at stake.
In either circumstance, our approach begins in the same place: understanding the client, the objective, and the practical consequences of the legal decisions ahead.
Our role is not simply to identify legal issues. It is to help our clients understand their options, evaluate risk, protect their interests, and move forward with a clear strategy.
Business & General Counsel
Businesses need legal counsel at every stage of their development.
We work with entrepreneurs, closely held businesses, established companies, and organizations on matters involving formation and structuring, contracts and commercial relationships, corporate governance, transactions, risk management, and the legal issues that arise in the ordinary course of operating and growing a business.
For clients with recurring legal needs, our role can extend beyond individual transactions. An ongoing relationship allows counsel to develop a deeper understanding of the organization, its objectives, and the context in which decisions are being made.
The result is legal advice that becomes part of the business's decision-making process rather than something sought only after a problem develops.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
When a dispute threatens a business, property, contractual right, financial interest, or other important objective, the relationship between attorney and client changes. The question is no longer simply what the law permits. It becomes how best to protect the client's position.
Schoendorf Law's Litigation Department represents plaintiffs and defendants in civil and commercial disputes, bringing together legal analysis, strategy, negotiation, and advocacy from the earliest stages of a controversy through resolution.
We believe effective litigation begins before anyone enters a courtroom.
That means identifying the client's actual objective, understanding the economics of the dispute, evaluating the strengths and vulnerabilities of each position, preserving leverage, and developing a strategy proportionate to what is at stake.
Some disputes should be resolved quickly. Others require sustained negotiation, motion practice, discovery, trial preparation, or trial. We approach each matter according to its circumstances rather than treating litigation as a predetermined sequence of expensive events.
Modern approach to Litigation
The cost of litigation can influence strategy almost as much as the merits of the dispute.
We have developed fee structures intended to make experienced representation more accessible and the economics of pursuing or defending a claim more rational.
For qualifying defense matters, attorney time is available at $99 per hour, subject to the scope and terms of the engagement.
Qualifying plaintiff matters may also be eligible for alternative or hybrid fee arrangements that combine predictable ongoing costs with an outcome-based component.
Not every matter qualifies, and the appropriate arrangement depends upon the nature, complexity, anticipated duration, and economics of the dispute.

Individuals & Families
Some legal matters are deeply personal.
Individuals and families may need counsel when buying or selling property, planning for the future, protecting an important financial interest, dealing with an agreement, addressing a dispute, or navigating a legal problem they never expected to encounter.
For someone who does not regularly work with attorneys, the legal system can feel unnecessarily complicated. We believe part of effective representation is making that process understandable.
We explain the issues, identify the available options, discuss their practical consequences, and help the client determine how to proceed.
Whether the matter is relatively straightforward or involves significant financial or personal consequences, our goal is to provide capable representation while remembering that there is a person behind every file.
Different Matters Require Different Approaches
A general practice serving businesses and individuals cannot reasonably approach every matter—or every client relationship—in the same way.
Defined projects may be appropriate for fixed fees. Businesses with recurring legal needs may benefit from ongoing counsel. Litigation and other evolving matters may require hourly, alternative, hybrid, or other customized arrangements.
The structure should fit the work, rather than forcing the work into a billing model that does not make sense for the client or the matter.
A More Thoughtful Client Experience
Good legal representation involves more than identifying the applicable law. Clients should understand what is happening, why it matters, what their options are, and what comes next.
Our approach emphasizes clear communication, careful analysis, practical recommendations, strategic advocacy, and respect for the client's time and resources.
We also use modern legal technology to streamline appropriate aspects of the practice and devote greater attention to work requiring professional judgment, strategic thinking, advocacy, and meaningful client collaboration.
Technology can improve how legal services are delivered. However, the relationship between attorney and client remains at the center of our practice.
Working With Schoendorf Law
Every engagement begins with understanding our clients and their matter.
We identify the legal issues, discuss objectives, consider the available approaches, establish the appropriate scope of representation, and determine a fee structure suited to the work.
Whether you are seeking counsel for your business, yourself, or a dispute that requires experienced advocacy, you should understand both the representation you are receiving and how you will be charged for it.
